Location and introduction:

Our Health Centre is located in Alicante in a quiet residential neighboUrhood ten minutes far from the centre of the city, near the famous beach of San Juan.

Alicanteis a well-known important touristic city placed in the Mediterranean coast not far from Valencia, with an international airport and flights to the main European cities. Our weather is wonderful during the whole year.

The Health Centre:

We are a big team with 22 GPs, 15 nurses, 7 pediatricians, a dentist, a physiotherapist, a social worker, two midwives, a mental health Unit and several assistants, taking care of approximately 50,000 people. It's a medium income-rate neighbourhood, composed of working people and professionals with children, and old people.

There are 2 possible working shifts: one from 8:00 am till 3:00 pm, and the other one from 2:00 pm till 9:00 pm.

Our clinical job involves health promotion and disease prevention, chronic disease management (hypertension, diabetes mellitus, osteoarthritis, dyslipidemia, COPD, etc.), acute health problems, minor surgery, care of the elderly, women health, palliative care, and management of specific groups, such as smoking cessation therapy, cardiovascular disease treatment and prevention, chronic care, etc. We also have approximately 2-3 home visits per week.

We perform clinical trials as well.

Academic activity:

Our practice has been a GP training one since 2006, with 4 GP trainers/supervisors, and 6 trainees nowadays. Our trainees have the possibility of joining not only clinical work but also community care activities and research projects.
