Exchange Awards

The Vasco da Gama Movement currently awards the Hippokrates Prize to the best exchange completed at an urban practice within Europe in a given year, under the Hippokrates Exchange Programme. Prior to 2018 exchanges completed in a rural practice were also eligible.

In addition, VdGM offers the Carozino Prize to the best exchange completed at a rural practice within Europe in a given year, under the Hippokrates Exchange Programme. This prize was established in memory of Dr. Claudio Carosino. An exchange is to be considered in a rural placement if it has been taken place in a town with less than 50.000 people and in an area that is populated by less than 50/km2 . If you have undertaken an exchange but you are not sure it can be considered for this prize, please contact the VdGM Liaison to EURIPA ( for confirmation.

Please visit the Wall of Fame to get to know the past Exchange Awardees.
