Madrid Conference Exchange 14-20 March 2016

We are delighted to invite you to a Conference Exchange taking place in Madrid from March 14th to 20th.

Participants are expected to arrive in Madrid on Sunday, March 13, 2016, and return home on Sunday , March 20, 2016.


The exchange is organized around the XVIII Conference of Family and Community Medicine Residents (on March 17th), under the slogan "All for one and one for all". 

Conference registration will be free of charge thanks to scholarships offered by the Madrid Society of Family and Community Medicine. 

The XVIII Conference of Family and Community Medicine Residents will be held in Campus Alcorcon, Faculty of Health Sciences of the “Rey Juan Carlos University”, located at Av. de Atenas, S/N, 28922 Alcorcón, Madrid. 

The official language of the exchange will be English. During the Conference, the International sessions and classes will be held in English, as any poster and oral presentations by the selected participants in the Conference Exchange; other sessions will mostly be held in Spanish


There are 20 places available for GP trainees and First-5s (GPs within the first 5 years after vocational training). 


Participants will have the opportunity to:

- attend a Spanish GP practice for four days.

- discover the Spanish health system from within.

- visit the emergency department of one of the most important hospitals in Madrid.

- participate in the XVIII Conference of Family and Community Medicine Residents, by presenting the topic "What you must know and do to practice in my country” during an International Session; in addition, participants may also submit case reports and research projects as posters or oral presentations. Prizes will be awarded to the best oral presentation and best case report.

- get an official certificate of participation in the Conference issued by the Madrid Society of Family and Community Medicine.

- participate in multiple and diverse cultural activities, including a guided sightseeing tour through the beautiful city of Madrid, visits to museums and the best entertainment places according to locals, and to attend a traditional Flamenco dance show. 


Please note that the participants are expected to pay for accommodation and transport.

Yet, the first five selected applicants will be granted free accommodation in the houses of local young GPs and GP trainees. The Organizing Committee is keen on helping the other participans find suitable, low cost accommodation in the city center.
